What is a Band Trainee?

A band trainee is somebody wtithin the scout and guide organisation who joins the band, no earlier than his/her seventh birthday, and works through a training program designed to teach them the basics of music, marching and working together as a team. This gives the Band Trainee a good grounding in Bandmanship. At the end of the Band Trainee program, which lasts ten months, there is an awards ceromont when each Band Trainee receives their certificate of achievement.

Do I need to be able to play a musical instrument to become a Band Trainee?

No you don't. We teach you everything you need to know about music and how to play the instruments. You don't even have to buy your own instrument as the band owns all these.

How much does being a Band Trainee Cost?

The Subscription is £2.50 per month (or £25.00 if you pay for a whole year at once)

What happens after Band Trainees?

Once the Band Trainee has completed their training program, they then become a Junior Bandsmen. This allows them to take part in many of the events and functions as well as taking part in marching band contests.
